Known as "Cinema Street", Wuchang Street Section 2 in Ximending has been a center for movie houses since the Taiwan Expo in 1935. During those pre-war heydays, moviegoing began to emerge as a popular pastime in Taiwan, and a number of elegant cinemas opened on Wuchang Street to cater to the trend.
