Spectacular fireworks will be stealing the spotlight on the eve of Chinese Valentine’s Day! The Dadaocheng Fireworks Festival will be taking place on August 6 at the Dadaocheng wharf, offering residents an exciting midsummer night show.
During the press conference, the schedule for the day of the fireworks was delivered through two glove puppet “spokespersons” – the husband and wife from the Chinese children’s story “A Mouse Wedding.”
Information and Tourism Commissioner Chao Hsin-ping noted that the event this year will carry a retro flavor – Taiwanese glove puppetry. By combining the fireworks with glove puppet shows, the night will be something to remember for the audience.
The event of the day will start off at 3 PM with a fair at the riverside, featuring a variety of fun and games, as well as an exhibition on glove puppets and an outdoor movie session.
Celebrities and performers will take to the stage at 5 PM, lasting until the fireworks spectacle which will kick-off at 8:30 PM. According to Chao, the 20-minute-long show employs made-in-Taiwan fireworks. She noted that thanks to the help of modern technology, the organizers are able to conjure the images of late glove puppetry master Li Tien-lu during the fireworks show.
